a day.

every day here feels more like a week. i can hardly keep track of the time.

i feel so at peace with where i'm at. a peace that i can't remember ever feeling before. call it being in God's will or call it something else. in any case. i know that i am in the right place and i do know that this is where God wants me for right now. and that is a very safe and fulfilling place to be in. every day has its challenges... (ahem. forced evangelism, prayer times, and work duties just to name a few) but that peace never seems to leave and i am so grateful for that. this year i'll get to celebrate my birthday AND christmas in africa. i couldn't dream of anything better! i am excited to be reminded of how much i take for granted and how much i have to be thankful for. i can't wait to appreciate the smallest and most simple pleasures and blessings because i'll be living without so many of the extra comforts that i enjoy every day. i am desperate to be in a place where i rely on God more fully than i ever have before. a place where my relationship with god isn't out of convenience and where i'm not complacent or apathetic. a place where i am fully aware of my need for god. of my need for dependence on him. fully aware of my inadequacy and his holiness.

right now i'm sitting with my close friend rachel in the freezing cold dining hall late at night.. we've decided that we are going to make this a habit of doing since it's the only time and place where there is silence. silence and solitude are incredibly hard to come by around here. in fact they are both impossible. (i have found myself hiding in a bathroom stall more than once). but more on that later...  for now, i should try to squeeze in enough hours of sleep to be able to get through a very long day tomorrow.

goodnight perth.
